Welcome to the Union Preschool family. We are very pleased and excited to have your child(ren) join us for the 2010-2011 school year. We are blessed to have Mrs. Dawn Coulbourn and Mrs. Heather Goodger returning as your child(ren)’s teacher and teacher’s assistant, respectively.
Union Preschool (UPS) is a mission of Union United Methodist Church, operating under a Letter of Compliance from the State of Maryland. It is the Mission of UPS to provide a Christian-based, developmentally appropriate educational experience that develops academic and social skills of all children, while nurturing respect for self, others and the community.
Union Church, the Union Preschool Board Members and Teaching Staff all join with me in saying “Welcome” and we will be looking forward to walking your child(ren)’s educational path with you. Have a wonderful summer and we’ll see you this Fall.

In preparing for the new school year your child will find “school shopping” to be the
start of an exciting adventure. Listed below are the items that your child(ren) will
need. The Preschool will supply all other supplies needed for arts, crafts and classroom
assignments. Please, do not put your child’s name on anything except the
Ziploc bag with a change of clothing.

• 1 box Crayola crayons
• 1 box gallon size Ziploc bags
• 1 pack of multi-color Xerox paper
• 1 refill package baby wipes
• 2 bottles Elmer’s glue AND 2 Elmer’s glue sticks
• 1 package cups (5 ounce) [no Dixie cups, please, they collapse]
• 2 packages of napkins
• 1 Ziploc bag with a change of clothing
• 1 two pocket folder for homework assignments (4 year old class only)

Each family is responsible for bringing a snack for the class once a month. A sign up
sheet will be provided at the start of school with some suggestions. You may bring in
“special snacks” to celebrate your child(ren)’s birthday, but will need to coordinate this
with the teacher in advance. Please know that your child(ren)’s birthday will still be
celebrated even if you cannot bring something special.

DawnWe are pleased to announce that Dawn Coulbourn is beginning her 4th year as teacher at UPS.  Dawn’s original career background was in business but when she decided to be a stay-at-home mom she switched gears to early childhood to run a successful home Day Care.  She then went back to school and earned a certificate in Early Childhood Education before coming to UPS.  While not spending time with your child(ren) at UPS, Dawn currently operates a home Day Care business for before and after school care.

Dawn is also the leader of the Marshyhope 4H club that meets at Union UMC the 3rd Thursday of every month.  On as many nice weekends throughout the year as possible, she and her husband and daughter enjoy camping.  As the co-director for the Children’s Choir at Union UMC she can be found many Sundays worshipping and helping to lead the children in song.

Heather

This will be Heather Goodger’s 2nd year as the teacher’s assistant with UPS and we are thrilled to have her returning.  Heather is the wife of a high school art teacher in Queen Anne’s County and the proud mother of three.  Prior to becoming the teacher’s assistant Heather spent two years as an involved Union Preschool parent.

Heather enjoys spending time with her family, gardening and canning her own vegetables.  In her “spare” time, Heather also works as a Celebrating Home designer.  Heather’s family attends Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
