Pastor Dan

Union UMC welcomes Pastor Daniel T. Gedman to Federalsburg.  Pastor Dan comes to Union by way of Northeast UMC where he served for six years.  Pastor Dan began serving Union Church on July 4, 2010 and has spent his first two months getting to know the congregation through visits, telephone calls, meetings and Sunday morning conversation.  Please let the church office know if you would like a visit and/ or if you or someone you know is in need of a hospital visitation.

Pastor Dan brings the message at both a praise and worship service and a traditional service on Sunday mornings, through two different styles of presentation.  The Celebration Service is in Fellowship Hall from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. and the Traditional Service is from 11 a.m. - 12 noon in the sanctuary.  Recordings of the 11 a.m. service are available through the church office for those in the hospital, for shut-ins and for those who simply miss a Sunday.

Union is greatly anticiapting the plans that Pastor Dan has for Children's Ministries and feels certain that this Fall is going to be a very exciting time to be a part of the Union Church family.

Come and worship with us this Sunday and meet our new Pastor - he'd like to meet you.

NEW FRIENDS FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN WOMEN

Calling all women!  It is certainly not too early to mark your calendar for Tuesday, October  5th.  This will start our 16th year of meeting together for a meal, fellowship, music and a program.
Pastor Dan Gedman will be our guest speaker, and the music will be provided by “Revived”, a gospel singing trio composed of Ron Messick, Jill Queen and Galen Queen.
Just bring your favorite covered dish and $3.00 to help cover the cost.  An entrée and drinks will be provided.  No need to make a reservation, come and bring a friend with you!  See you on October 5th at 6 PM!

WOMEN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

Why not join us on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, as we begin a new year of searching for ways to apply God’s commands to our lives?  This is an informal group for all women.  We spend time in sharing, prayer, laughter, studying how God’s Holy Word works in our lives, and taking time to listen for him whispering our names.  All are encouraged to join us.  Age is not important, we are all looking for the same thing – ways to draw nearer to God.  Sometimes the hardest thing is to make the initial visit.  We promise you that you will be welcomed with open arms and know you will fit right in with us..
We meet in the Berea Classroom.  It is the last room before entering the Pre-School.  We start at 9:30 AM.   We do not use study books. We start with a planned passage of scripture and go where the Spirit leads us.  Hope you can join us!

UUMC Installs Assistive Listening System!

ST300 SR50

Many hearing impaired persons use hearing aids effectively in most situations, but hearing aids may be inadequate in classrooms, meetings, theatres, places of worship, or any other places where a large number of people gather. Hearing aids magnify all sounds; the voice of the speaker, teacher, or performer must compete with all the background noises, echo, and, distance factor.
Assistive listening devices provide hard of hearing individuals with clear sound over long distances, or amidst distracting background noise, echoes, and poor acoustics. Union’s assistive listening system transmits sound as directly as possible to the listener utilizing wireless FM radio transmitters.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

We want to have a family movie night! We supply the popcorn and movie and you bring you favorite chair (bean bag, fold-up, lounge) and the family! Date and movie choice will be in your bulletin! Hope to see you all there!

About Union Church

As a United Methodist congregation, we emphasize God's grace, forgiveness, and spiritual transformation.

Currently our Sunday worship offers a service of Celebration (contemporary style worship) from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and a traditional style service from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Sunday School is held concurrently with the Celebration service (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.).  We offer classes for children from the ages of three through six grades, with a nursery and a teens class in the making.  Classes use developmental appropriate curriculum.

We invite you to visit Union Church and to become a part of a community striving to continue to grow and reach out in the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ..

THE GATHERING

THE GATHERING, sponsored by Community Matters, will begin its third year of serving a full meal to anyone who comes in on Wednesday, October 13, 2010.  This non-profit organization was founded in 2008 by several members of Union Church who recognized a need for gathering together for a meal.  It is held in Union Church Fellowship Hall, which is handicap accessible, from 3 to 5 PM.  All are welcome to enjoy good food, fellowship, and music provided by some local musicians. A nurse from the Caroline County Health Dept. offers blood pressure screenings to those who desire it.
We will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month through June 2011.
There is no cost.  Some choose to make a small donation, but it is never expected.  Won’t  you join us - and why not invite a friend to come with you?  Remember the date:  Wednesday, October 13 from 3 to 5 PM.
